What happens when words aren’t enough?

This First Friday, the Fonseca-DuBois Gallery at the Indy Liberation Center welcomes Indianapolis multidisciplinary artist Jourdain Brown and his exhibition, “See What I Mean?”

Working across painting, illustration, comics, animation, and visual storytelling, Brown explores the difficult space between experiencing something and making ourselves understood. His images emerge from personal stories and emotions, but also from his reactions to the world around him, transforming individual experience into an opportunity for connection.

At a moment when so much of our lives can leave us feeling isolated from one another, “See What I Mean?” reminds us that making art, and sharing it, is a profoundly social act. We create because we have something to say. We look because someone else is asking to be understood.

Come meet the artist, experience the work, and spend First Friday in community.

Do you see what I mean?
